Medtronic Case Study

THE CLIENT RAVES:

“We set out to have the BEST event at the 2008 Republican National Convention, and we did, thanks to Hot On Broadway!  We had very specific objectives for our event and Hot On Broadway worked with us to fashion a fabulous evening by providing an on-target, customized performance that was outstanding. Thanks again for the support and performance!”

Client: Medtronic

Show: 2008 Republican National Convention

Location: Medtronic World Headquarters, Minneapolis, MN

Initiative: Celebrate Medtronic's friends and acquaintances including delegates from Arizona, California, Indiana, Tennessee and Minnesota. With nearly 1,000 attendees, the performance must appeal to a wide range of ages and backgrounds. As the party will sprawl across the company's headquarters - both indoors and outdoors - the production must be eye-catching and draw attendees together toward the main stage. Also, the main stage is located in the company's atrium which has floor to ceiling windows, so all lighting effects must be set during daylight hours - with no chance to revise lighting before the evening's production.

Solution: After reviewing the demographics of the attendees, Hot On Broadway and Medtronic agreed that pop songs from Jersey Boys and songs of the era supplied the best themed entertainment program. Complete with a cast of 4 men from Broadway - including 2 performers from the original Broadway cast of Jersey Boys - we delivered a 45-minute Broadway show with instantly recognizable hit songs. With choreography and costumes that harkened back to the '50s and '60s, as well as scripted dialogue that spoke to the theme and message of the event, we designed a unique show that connected with every member of the audience. Through careful consultation, our team of experienced Broadway technicians identified high-energy lighting looks that immeasurably added to the rock 'n' roll experience.

Results: A blockbuster! As the performers hit the stage, the attendees swarmed the platform, coming in from all areas of the building. Responding to the rock-concert theme, the audience screamed, sang along, and snapped pictures of the performers. Couples throughout the atrium danced to the ballads being sung onstage. After the finale, the performers found themselves mobbed by delegates eager to have pictures taken. For a performance that lasted 45 minutes, the cast meet-and-greet and photo sessions lasted well over an hour beyond the show!
